About the Artist

Louise CATTRELL (B.1957)

Painter of figurative abstract landscapes, born in Glasgow. First studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, between 1975-80. During this period she was awarded the Duncan of Drumfork Travelling Scholarship, Adam Bruce Thompson Award from the Royal Scottish Academy, the Scottish Education Travelling Scholarship and the Farquahar Reid Scholarship. Cattrell then attended the Royal College of Art, 1980-3, where she received the John Minton Award in 1983. Her first solo public exhibition was held at Peterborough City Art Gallery in 1985.
She has held international residencies in Switzerland, Ireland, United States, Sri Lanka and Bulgaria. Works are held in many private and public collections.
