About the Artist

Alexander JAMIESON (1873-1937)

Painter of landscapes and town scenes and also some portraits. Born in Glasgow on 23rd September 1873.

Studied art at the Haldane Academy, Glasgow, winning a scholarship to Paris in 1898. Elected a member of the International Society of Sculptors,Painters and Gravers, 1904 and Royal Institute of Oil Painters, 1927.

First one-man show held in 1912 at the Carfax Gallery. Visited Spain in 1911 and served in France during the 1914-18 war. Represented in several public collections. Lived for some years at Weston-Turville, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and died in London on 2nd May 1937.
